This pretty planner is a powerhouse who’s making a punch in Yaletown. Along with Mijune of Follow Me Foodie, she recently organized Vancouver’s first Cupcake Challenge held at the Roundhouse. Her multitasking talents are impressive, and she does it all with a bright sweet smile.
Say ‘hi’ to Nicole.

Name:
Nicole Marie
What you do?:
I have dabbled (and am dabbling!) in virtually everything. I am the principle planner of my boutique Wedding and Event Planning company, Nicole Marie Events. I also work in a corporate environment in Vancouver, and am a Business Marketing post-secondary student (starting my MBA next year!)
How long have you lived/worked in Yaletown?:
One year
Best place to get lunch?:
Provence Marinaside. Steps away from my apartment, and THE best brunch in the city. Yum!
Best place for dinner?:
Blue Water Cafe is my favourite. So great with girlfriends or family, yet still perfect for that special date night!
What’s the one thing about Yaletown that only a local would know of?:
Living on the edge of Marinaside, I never feel like I’m in the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the city. Yaletown/Marinaside is calm, quite and serene. Venture to the water if you’re looking to get away, without actually getting away! It’s a wonderful area to just take five minutes and relax.
One word to describe Yaletown?:
Oh goodness. Chic? Modern? Modern-chic!
Who was your first celebrity sighting in Yaletown?:
I dined beside Trevor Linden in Yaletown as a teen, and (absolutely) knew that’s where I wanted to be in my early-twenties!
What’s the one thing you like about Yaletown?:
I love that I am within walking distance to virtually everything. Groceries, coffee, dinner, daycare and the park. It has everything!
What’s the one thing you don’t like about Yaletown?:
Although I am admittedly a tiny bit of a ‘yuppie’ myself, I think Yaletown has a reputation for being superficial in some groups. Not a fan.
You wish Yaletown had more of…?:
Green! I love the incorporation of community gardens, but unfortunately they are temporary pre-development. It would be so fabulous to have more greenery in the area.
You wish Yaletown had less of…?:
Concrete parks. I love green!
What is Yaletown missing?:
A really fabulous coffee and dessert bar! We have some great coffee cafes, but I’m a complete melt for great desserts. I would love to see something develop in Yaletown that infuses a late-night coffee, tea and dessert (à la Kitsilano!)
Favourite memory being in Yaletown?:
The Olympics! While it certainly was loud with LiveCity Yaletown, it was so amazing to be in the hub of such an event.
