BeautyMark’s new location at Pacific Blvd in Yaletown boasts an entire top floor dedicated to beauty services. With the addition of a hand picked selection of baby clothing, accessories and strollers I doubt there is a girl in Vancouver that can walk by without stopping in and taking a look.
And guys, this is a good thing! I consider BeautyMark to be my 1-stop shop at Christmas and birthdays for my wife. So much so, that my wife has now resorted to doing her own pre-shopping for me and having her bag of presents waiting for payment and pick-up. It really couldn’t be easier.
With such personal success at BeautyMark I thought it fitting to do a company profile on this Yaletown fixture.
Below we tap into BeautyMark’s veteran makeup artist Tayler Rogers for a quick introduction and some Q&A’s on Yaletown’s favourite beauty store.
BeautyMark – Yaletown’s Premier Beauty Store
BeautyMark was created for all the beauty junkies out there who are seeking the latest “gotta have” products. We specialize in carrying top of the line independent brands that are hard to find – making a large effort to make as many of those lines Canadian owned and operated, along with having unique style and high quality. We want you to enjoy your experience at BeautyMark – our boutique in Yaletown is meant for you to come in and enjoy. Look around, test the products out, ask questions – our team of professionally trained makeup artist is there to help and provide information on all the products. We have a “no-pressure” approach to sales, so if you aren’t sure about a product take home a sample. Try it out and see how it goes. We want you to fall in love with our products!
Why the move to Pacific Blvd?
We’ve just celebrated our 10th year in business – and with that we moved from our original location on Hamilton St. to a location twice the size on Pacific Ave. We couldn’t be happier. It was time to expand, and we’ve definitely made use of the space. Now along with cosmetics we have a clothing section, a vast amount of jewelry and accessories and our children’s store E.i.O is in the mix too. We’ve also added services on the second floor. In addition to makeup applications and brow shaping we’ve added four new services to the list: hair styling, nail art, spray tanning and semi-permanent mascara. A “one stop shop” for beauty in Yaletown!
Are their additional locations planned?
We’ve always been so proud of our flagship location – we had a location on Denman St. and had a section in the Plenty store on Broadway St. but at the end of the day the original location is the heart of our business so we want to stick with the one location and make it absolutely perfect.
What do you feel Yaletown brings to BeautyMark that is unique or different from other neighbourhoods?
We love being in the Yaletown section of downtown. We’re very accessible from all parts of the city, it’s a great location.
How has the online business grown? Do you get orders from around the world?
Our online business has grown tremendously over the past few years. People are way more open to ordering online and it makes sense. If you order over $99 with us you get free shipping – if you are simply wanting to stock up on your staple items why not have them delivered straight to your door? We ship all across Canada, from the Maritimes to the North West Territories – some of the products we carry are really hard to find, especially in smaller cities. We’ve got a great clientele – its cool talking to customers who used to live in Vancouver and call to order because they miss the store so much. We are also really into our social media – Facebook, Twitter, blogging – it’s a great way to talk and connect with customers. We get feedback on products and even suggestions on what to bring into the store. Another bonus – it’s a fantastic way to stay connected with other local businesses in the Yaletown neighborhood, there’s a great support amongst the Yaletown businesses which is really refreshing.
Alisha Noon – Eyebrow Stylist & Makeup Artist
You might not know her, but Alisha Noon (dubbed the “brow guru” of Vancouver) is a miracle worker. This North Van native started her beauty career off initially as a makeup artist for the news at City TV, her obsession for the perfect brow took over and the rest is history. Working out of our own BeautyMark in Yaletown, Vancouver, Alisha is a full time eyebrow queen – shaping your brows to perfection!

CHRISTINA CULVER – Nail Artist
Vancouver-based Christina Culver grew up with a passion to create beautiful things: from her beginnings as a fashion designer with her signature line, CHRISTINA DARLING, to bringing her unique and glamorous designs to a new medium which launched her as the top nail artist in Western Canada. Magazines such as INTERVIEW, INSTYLE, FLARE, ZINK, WEDLUXE, and MAGPIE DARLING have featured Christina’s nails.
She has done manicures for advertising campaigns for KENSIE, ANNA KOSTUROVA and BANK OF AMERICA. Companies such as ROXY, QUIKSILVER and THE KNOW?SHOW have commissioned her nail art for their live events. Christina has also groomed the nails for the likes of celebrities such as Olympic medalist TORAH BRIGHT, designer ERIN FETHERSTON & actress FREIDA PINTO. Christina spent most of September working at New York Fashion Week backstage with lines such as Betsey Johnson, Ports 1965, Erin Fetherston, Calvin Klein, Jenny Packham, VPL, Yigal Azrouel, the GAP.
She had the opportunity to design the nail look for Calvin Klein, The GAP and look for Calvin Klein, The GAP and Ports 1965 as well as keying many of the shows. She is currently gearing up for the February shows. Christina does nail art out of BeautyMark, will an unlimited amount of design options.

CHRIS FUNK – Funk’d Hair Stylist
Chris Funk started his career at Utopia Academy of Hair Design. He was quickly dubbed the “Roundbrush King” by his fellow class mates. His passion for creating the final style continued as he worked with Jon Paul Holt who lead the “Session Styling Team” assisting on various photo shoots and fashion shows.
Once completing the ten month course at Utopia Academy Chris began his career at Blo Blow Dry Bar styling and coiffing the women of Vancouver. Quickly recognized for his talent, within a year he began to lead the team as Style Director. He trained and mentored his fellow Session Stylists across North America on creating the perfect blowout and style, and being part of a strong team.
Along with creating flawless locks, his passion for working with brides, bringing a calming and worry free energy to that often stress filled day was evident. Chris Funk loves being on the BeautyMark team and adds his flair to the go to place, with the best of the best, for everything to do with beauty.

CINDY LEYLAND – Spray Tan & Semi Permanent Eye Lash Applicator
Cindy Leyland has been a professional makeup artist for over 10 years. After graduating with honors from Blanche MacDonald Institute she was immediately immersed in the industry with a position with Make Up Forever; quickly working her way up from part time artist to Manager. In 2001, she caught the attention of a local entrepreneur and was approached to be the manager and buyer for a new and original beauty boutique called BeautyMark located in Vancouver. After 2 years with BeautyMark she decided to create a new cosmetics company of her own called Common Beauty.
In 2011, Cindy took up shop in BeautyMark and started offering St.Tropez airbrush spray tan to her clients. This coveted bronze tan, used on Dancing with the Stars, is in high demand and always delivers the best golden glow. Cindy has also introduced Crybaby to my list of services. This is a waterproof mascara treatment that is applied and cured and lasts for up to 2 weeks.
